Composers

Classical, Jazz and Contemporary Composers

classical composersIn the future, our 'Composers' section will be completely interactive, and link through to different parts of the network. You'll be able to find out about any composer by connecting with other people who know about or like the composer you're looking for, and find events, recordings, forum and blog posts, radio programs, and much more besides!

As Alex Ross notes in 'The Rest Is Noise', music genres disintegrate and fragment during the 20th Century, and it's now impossible to know - when talking about contemporary music - what's Classical and what's not any more! So we will also be introducing networking features that will help transform the way the music compositions of today are promoted, exchanged and consumed. So stay tuned for that!

For now, we are being a little less ambitious, and we are pleased to present you with an outline of Classical music composers from the Medieval period through to the 20th Century, based on the information at Wikipedia. We'll gradually introduce interactive features to this page too. For now, please enjoy!

Medieval   (500–1420)
Renaissance (1380–1620)
