About MusBook.com

Musbook.com is a web portal, social network and digital publishing website that hosts a globalcommunity of musicians and music lovers. It was founded in 2008 byAustralian conductor and academic Peter Tregearand English violinist Simon Hewitt Jones.

Our founding vision is really simple, but we think its effectwill be profound. We want to empower and enrich the world's communityof musicians by enabling not just professional relationships, but alsorelationships between musicians and music lovers, to develop in waysthat have previously never been possible. We'll support these newconnections with a comprehensive range of services, tools, andinformation that will help musicians drive forward the development ofmusical culture like never before.

We want MusBook.com tobecomethe leading 'creative commons' for Classical, Jazz and Contemporarymusic, and to facilitate the radical broadening of access to resourcesthat's already happening online. No more will valuable tools andresources be limited to major music companies and institutions- now every musician can reach out to audiences and build a fanbasefrom scratch, without spending a lot of money.

Widening access to quality music education will be acore partof our work. If creative skills are the key to survival in anunpredictable future, then the creative arts should be integral to theworld's major educational systems, not just fun addenda. We areespecially keen to harness the great repository of teaching knowledgethat currently occurs in studios and schools around the world, butwhich is otherwise unavailable, and so an integral part of the sitewill be a 'Conservatoiresans frontières' - online music education without borders, available to all.

Our vision is global. From our offices in Melbourne, London and New Yorkwe're creating a new infrastructure for people to discover, create, promote and andshare music. Nothing less will do: the 20th Century hierarchies ofmusic production are broken, and a new creative dynamic is necessary inorder for our great musical traditions not just to survive, but toevolve and thrive.

If you are similarly inspired to help realise our vision-- beit through advice, suggestion, investment, or perhaps even joining our internationalteam, we are always keen to hear from you.  Postyour ideas on our 'feedback' forum, or contact us at support[at] musbook [dot] com
