A live performance of Don Giovanni at the Renne Opera House is set to be broadcast around France in 3D high-definition video.
France Telecom subsidiary GlobeCast will broadcast the performance live via satellite to cinemas in Paris and across the rest of France.
Taking place on June 2nd, the broadcast represents a technological breakthrough in opera experience, relying on a multi-camera operation organised by Orange Labs.
Globecast believes this will ensure that audiences across the country will not miss a beat during Mozart's masterpiece.
The live performance will be broadcast at two cinemas in Avignon and Brest and will be transmitted through a GlobeCast truck position outside of the opera house.
It will decode the broadcast signal for projection, ensuring that the image and audio are synchronised throughout the performance.
GlobeCast also offered coverage of the Uefa Champions League Final earlier this week and provided broadcasting facilities at the G20 Summit in London last month.
