The Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Australia's newest, and arguably finest, recital venue, the 1000-seat Melbourne Recital Centre has announced that he is to leave his position with some 20 months of his current contract still to run.
Less that a year old, the MRC has received general praise for its amenities, architecture, and acoustic properties, but widespread criticism for alleged managerial failures and failure to attract the level of public support for its programming.
Late last year, the venue withdrew support for a series of concerts of local and international artists it had programmed after it failed to meet budget targets.
