The Mayor of London is offering a year-long busking license to young musicians as part of his drive to improve musical opportunities in the capital.
Musicians aged between 16 and 25 years old have been invited to take part in Rhythm of London's Busking Underground initiative, that will give 100 young musicians the chance to perform in a 20-minute slot on the tube network.
The top ten buskers will also compete for additional prizes, including a year-long licence to perform as part of the London Underground's Busking Scheme.
Mayor Boris Johnson explained that the scheme is all about "nurturing talent in the capital".
He said: "But despite music being such an important part of London's cultural and social landscape, it isn't always easy for young Londoners to get access to music education, instrument tuition and venues.
"This busking scheme is such a brilliant opportunity for young Londoners. It means they get to perform live in front of a crowd and who knows, they could be talent spotted."
Rhythm of London is taking place on July 10th and 11th and includes a range of musical events for schools to take part in.
