Not sure if this thread belongs here. Anyway my friend played in a wind band, I went to once performance where they played a number of Eric Whitacre pieces - "Sleep", "Lux Armuque" and "Equus". The latter being particularily mindblowing. I went out to look for his cd, but could only find his choral album "Cloudburst". It's very good, and from what I understand, Eric is currently completing his first full-length oratorio for chorus, soprano soloist, and orchestra; a commission for the Berlin Rundfunkchor and a major commission for the London Symphony Chorus which will be performed with the London Symphony Orchestra in October 2010 but I'd like to hear more of his orchestral work.
