Hi ! Hope someone can help on this topic????? :)
I got a CD of Blow`s "God Spake Sometime in Visions" last year. Love Blow, love the piece, love the Parley of Instruments. Trouble is I couldn`t hear it. The playing is superb, no complaints there. WOuld anyone be able to tell me why it sounds like there is something wrong with the acoustics or the way it is recorded? I have many CDs recorded in large churches and I can hear them... What is going on here, or should I say "hear"!!!!
Thanks , Best, sam

Ha! One of my fav pieces too (and I think I put on the first ever Australian perf. of this anthem in 2009). I have the King's Consort recording, which is certainly OK. Have you checked where it says it was recorded? Perhaps the post-production is at fault? I'll try and see if I can find this recording too....

Thanks for the reply!!! Yeah, big Blow fan here! Glad they`ve decided to resurrect Amphion Anglicus in the concert hall recently as well. Love the Purcell death ode too!
Yes, its done at Winchester. I`ve not heard this before with a top band like the Parley. It does something weird to one`s brain... Like it`s hard to orientate the various sounds. I thought it was my ears !! Have to get the recording you`ve got anyway. Best, sam
