The Centre de musique baroque de Versailles has published the first complete edition of Hyacinthe Jadin’s 12 string quartets. This talented composer, whose work dates from the end of the 18th century, reflects the influence of Haydn and Mozart. More than merely interesting, these quartets open an important new window on French ‘classical’ chamber music. Philippe Oboussier’s scholarly introduction to this critical edition reveals an understanding of this young composer and his music.

Separate parts soon available for individual quartets.
